The Cessna Model A is the first aircraft built by the deposited brand Cessna Aircraft Company. This mixed wood and steel fuselage aircraft was designed, built and flown by Clyde Cessna in 1920. It is a high wing aircraft with four seats. 83 of this model were built primarily for private owners desiring to take small tours in the sky.

The Model A had different variants that varied according to the engine installed:

Cessna Model AA: with a 12hp (89 kW) Anzani 10 engine; 14 built

Cessna Model AC: with a 130hp (97 kW) Comet engine; 1 built

Cessna Model AF: with a 150hp (112 kW) Floco/Axelson engine; 3 built

Cessna Model AS: with a 125hp (93 kW) Siemens-Halske engine; 4 built 

Cessna Model AW: with a 125hp (97 kW) Warner Scarab engine; 48 built [one bought by the young pilot Eddie August Schneider who beat three airspeed records in transcontinental flights for pilots under 20 years old, in 1930]

Cessna Model BW: with a 220hp (164 kW) Wright J-5 engine, three seat version; 13 built
